Stainless Steel Worktops at Home

Stainless Steel worktops are the staple of most professional kitchens. And for good reason. It’s a hygienic, durable, non-porous material that withstands temperatures over 300 degrees. These properties make it the perfect worktop for the hustle n’ bustle of everyday life at home.

Why Choose Stainless Steel Worktops?

Ultimately, it boils down to taste, wants and needs. Just like Marmite, you may love it or hate it. Aesthetics aside, homeowners choose stainless steel because of its functional benefits:

  • Non-porous surface: liquids don’t absorb into the steel
  • Simple cleaning: spills wipe away in seconds.
  • Heat resistant: withstands over 300°C

Low maintenance, high performance. What else could you ask for?

The Look and Feel of Steel

Design-wise, stainless steel has evolved well beyond its roots. Paired with oak, walnut, plywood or fenix, it brings texture, balance and sophistication to modern interiors.

Over time stainless steel develops a subtle patina. Minor scratches (not flaws) are a sign of life in the kitchen. A kitchen that’s cooked in everyday. A sign of a kitchen that’s loved.

How To Care For Your Worktop

Stainless steel worktops are easy to maintain. Super easy.

For everyday cleaning:

1. Wipe the surface with a clean, damp cloth

2. Dry with a soft cloth

3. Use soap for tougher residue and dry thoroughly after

Because Stainless Steel is non-porous, liquids stay on the surface. Remove it with a dry cloth by wiping in the direction of the grain. Easy.

Pro tip: Avoid steel wool, harsh abrasive pads, and aggressive scrubbing as these can damage the finish.

Managing Scratches

Scratches are a natural part of living with stainless steel, softening over time to create a subtle patina. But if you prefer a fresher finish, you can blend scuffs easily:

1. Apply a small amount of Johnson’s baby oil with a soft cloth.

2. Let it sit on the surface for 10 minutes.

3. Buff with a dry microfiber cloth until smooth.
