Three Design Hacks: How To Style Your Kitchen Shelves

Date

HERE ARE YOUR HACKS

It’s November already?! But this can mean only one thing – it’s time for more inspiration, design details and style tips. Oh, and Christmas shopping…

Today, we’re revealing our interior design hacks that will make you a ‘master of the shelves’. Seriously, once you’ve got these in your locker, you’ll be re-arranging every shelf in sight. And you might start seeing triangles everywhere – we’ll come onto that…

1. TRIANGLES. TRIANGLES. TRIANGLES.

Position objects in such a way that their outline forms a triangle. This works with equilateral and right-angle triangles. Below we’ve highlighted three plants, because these objects direct your eye to each layer. But triangles can be used for smaller objects too. How many can you see? (hint: mocha pot)

2. ADD ODDS AND ENDS

Recipe books, flea market finds, ornaments (and whatever you fancy) add character to your shelves. Different shapes – round, square or triangular – make your shelf feel less static and more alive.

3. FIND A FOCAL POINT

Finally, make a statement. Draw the eye with colour, contrast or placement. Think: what do you want to see first? And how do you want it to make you (and others) feel?

As you can see below, this print is bright and energetic, which is a sneaky surprise in this calming, understated kitchen. This is a perfect way to reflect your personality in your interior design – which is what it’s all about.

These are just a few basic rules of thumb. But they will elevate your interior design.
